Mr. Kitten Britches

Photobucket
So we were going to give him a good name. Like, Thor, Odin, Hellboy, something big and beefy like that. We have named our past cats and dogs Creature, Monster, Evil Beast. However, I joked that I would call him Mr. Kitten Britches or Kitty Boy after the nicknames given to Skippy John Jones. Skippy John is a siamese cat in a children reading book that my mom bought for us.

Somehow, the name stuck! He is quite wild-like really, he is half Savannah which is a cross between an African Serval and a Siamese. Usually they are very pricey, we got him for 150$ because he is half Savannah and half Siamese. Some of his litter mates looked like the lilac point Siamese. Our kitty named Evil was half Savannah.

I was being stalked here, I was laying in the doorway of my bedroom watching him beat up Nathalie's house shoe. He has very green eyes, it is hard to capture on photo. Savannah cats have usually larger ears, excellent hearing capabilities (from the Serval) can jump up to 8 ft from a standstill and are faster runners, stronger hunters than average domestic cats. They also have enormous paws, the pads are larger and their print is larger. They have dew claws, a set of claws higher up on their legs. Kitty Boy has a double set of dew claws on his front and a single on his back paws.

He does enjoy stalking and attacking us. He has claimed an afgan, if we use it he will attack us until we give it up. He likes to play at night and attacks our doors and fusses at regular intervals. When we get up, he will often attack us, and then go away and stare at us with his ears back and completely ignore us. He will then forgive us and come back to play.
Photobucket
He gets in my lap in the morning, asks for coffee and when I pull the cup away, he instantly extends all 22 claws into my shirt without otherwise moving. Then he goes away to ignore me. Yesterday he had some coffee, I do not think that it enhanced his behavior.

We drove to the Kenai Peninsula to pick him up, it was a 4 hr drive one way! We left at 4 a.m. Sunday morning. We are hoping to find and buy a female that is 100 % Savannah to breed him with. That would make them 75% Savannah. They are quite huge for a domestic cat, Kitten Britches will grow quite large according to his current paws.

Nathalie dresses him and sets him in baskets for naps, oddly he puts up with this though sometimes he will turn on her with his claws out and let her know he is done being dressed as a girl.

Photobucket
Nathalie has created a number of toys for him, I cant get it on film yet but he jumps about 3 ft high and can do complete back flips in the air, landing on his feet.
Photobucket
Yes this is all blurry, but he looked hilarious with his back arched up as if the ball were alive!

Photobucket
Basket sleeping, with a little home woven blanket cover. Mom and Tad wove this several Christmases ago. His underblanket is a diaper, on top of a wizard cape from Tad's wizard phase when he was 6.

Photobucket
Nathalie currently takes about 50 shots of him daily, most of which I delete from the camera card. I find odd pictures regularly, she finds things like a bunny foot from the side or bottom a great photo.

Photobucket
He seems pretty normal, but like our Evil cat has some odd propensities and we are so glad to have found a kitten of this breed.
